This Is So Unlike Me

by

A few minutes ago I did something so unlike me. I’m still surprised I hit the “send” button on the email I drafted.

A company that currently holds some of my debt is holding a promotion that if you refer people to them you get a tasty treat. Now, I’ve discussed this company in length on this blog because I borrowed money from them. It was a good experience for me and I’ve even done a guest post on a very popular personal finance blog about my experience with them (and that post was highlighted by an even more popular blog). I feel I’ve created quite a bit of “buzz” about their company from blogging about my experience.

Well, with this promotion and the chance to get a treat that I would never buy for myself, I spoke up. I wrote a nice email explaining that I have blogged about my experience with their company and I was wondering if I could get the treat without having to do the direct referrals to spread the word like they want right now. As I said, this is so unlike me and I am so surprised I hit “send” on the email.

I have no idea what is going to happen and now it’s a matter of waiting and seeing if they reply. If they do end up sending the treat, I’ll split it with one of you!! 🙂

March Net Worth Update +6.40%

by

March ended up being a very good month for us in terms of net worth. We were able to increase our savings significantly and I had to hold a large amount in our checking account to pay our health insurance bill this month ($800). The end result was an increase of 6.4% and our net worth now sits at a negative $33,791.

When we hit a net worth of $0 I think we should have a party 🙂

To see how all of our debt breaks down (since I only focus on the credit card debt on this blog right now), please check out my NetWorth IQ Profile.

UPDATE 4/11/07: With our health insurance, it is a little over $400/month. But, I have to pay it every two months, so my payment is a little over $800 every two months (that’s why it says $800 up there). Thanks to the reader that brought this to my attention 🙂
