Really Cute Christmas Idea

by

I saw this on Facebook this week (it’s not my idea by any means) and thought it was worth a share. This is probably more helpful to parents of younger kids, but I think it’s a really cute way of keeping Christmas spending under control. And making it “fair.”

(Yes, I obviously have Christmas on the brain. And there are less than 100 days left in this year.)

As my kids have gotten older, their wishlists have gotten shorter, but also more expensive. It’s a catch 22. I am currently working on creating a list for my four kiddos. I want to get things purchased and wrapped early since I will need to ship both Sea Cadet and Gymnast’s gifts this year.

I have my budgeted amount and will divide that between the four kids, something here at home (food and entertainment) and then gifts for my siblings parents and grandmother. I plan to finish my Texas family gifts by Thanksgiving so that I can take them when we go rather than having to ship them. That’s what we did last year and it make the month of December a lot easier as far as preparations go.

Do you have any gift giving traditions when it comes to kids and Christmas that are both economical and cute?

That is cute! Our household at some point adopted the poem, “something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read(although I have also gotten DVDs for my kids instead of books from time to time)” for Christmas when they were at home. Now that 2 are outside the home and all are adults I make them stockings( which usually include a book or DVD and stuff like novelty socks or tshirts) and give them money as a main gift. They know better than I do what they want and need.

So, what do you think ?
