I’ve Been Named a “Get Real Girl of the Week”

by

I was contacted by the Get Real Girls from FM107 out of Minnesota. They wanted me to be their “Get Real Girl of the Week” for next week and be a guest on their radio show tomorrow.

At first, I wasn’t so sure about doing it. After all, I’m a pretty shy person in real life and I really do not talk all that much. I’m usually a listener. Writing for me comes much easier. But it sounded fun to talk about finances with a group of gals so I said yes!

I am very nervous about being on their radio show because it is live. I hope my sentences make sense and I hope I don’t start talking like an auctioneer. If you are interested in listening, I will be on around 9:30 a.m. Central Time this Saturday morning (tomorrow). You can stream the show by going here and then clicking on the button near the top left that says “Listen Online.”

As a bonus, if you visit their website you can see my mug shot. The picture was taken only a few days ago so that is my latest and greatest haircut. I think you’ll agree that it doesn’t look too shabby.

Now, if you think I look like someone that you know, I probably do. I have a very simple look and I think so far I have been told I have at least 10 “twins” out there. I guess that’s what you get when you have longer straight hair, big cheeks and glasses LOL.

If you happen to miss the show on Saturday, they do have a podcast that you can listen to. It will be available for about a week after the show.

Oh my…just writing the above is making the butterflies in my stomach flutter around. Wish me luck! πŸ™‚

Congratulations! I am sure you will do just fine and I am looking forward to listening to you on the radio. And you’re right, your haircut looks great! My only question – why do they have “Darla” next to your picture and not “Tricia”? Good luck.

That’s awesome! I’m glad you decided to do it despite being nervous (everyone is nervous, at least they can’t SEE you being nervous!).

Hi Colleen – I contacted them and they fixed it. I think Darla was there last week πŸ™‚

    Thanks Dawn!

    jim – behave!! LOL πŸ˜‰

    Congratulations Tricia, that’s awesome!
And I know what you mean about the twin thing, I’ve been told so many times that I look just like someone’s sister/cousin/friend’s ex-girlfriend. All I can say is I feel sorry for those poor girls ;D

Good luck! I’m so excited for you! It’s going to sound corny, but ‘You’ve come a long way baby!’

I hope publicizing your story brings more awareness to more people. It’s kind of crazy to think that a lot of ppl have less than $25K saved for retirement. (But I think you’ll be in a good position sooner than you think since you are making strides!)

Hey I just wanted to let you know that I’m at the “I paid 1/3 of my debt off” milestone!

  • Reply Jen |

The butterflies are perfectly understandable, but you’ll be on the phone with them, so just think of it as a phone call πŸ™‚ That might help!

And, you do look like someone I know! Hehe. You remind me of someone I knew in college.

Tricia, you’re doing great on the radio. This is really cool. You’re more brave than me. I was asked to do an interview but too shy to be on camera or radio. Congrats. I use your blog information and tips. Great stuff.

I think your interviewer is great too. She really sounds like she cares about your project and it shows in her voice. Great interview. Thanks for sharing your story.

So, what do you think ?
