Coupons!

by

Every day I listen to the Wall Street Journal This Morning podcast with Gordon Deal. It’s a great way to get a 30 minute abridged version of the news.

This morning, they shared the top three places to get online coupons. I’m not a coupon queen but I do like to save a buck so I thought I’d share their top three sites with you:

#1: Coupons.com

The site requires you to download a coupon printer application and I struggled a bit with it (but mainly it’s because I’m a little slow on the technology side… and when I say ‘slow’ I mean I’m about as technically savvy as a 60 year old). Once I got that out of the way, it was easy to figure out.

#2: Couponcabin.com

This site focused more on online shopping. I’m not a huge online shopper so I wasn’t real impressed. The site was also VERY slow and turned my whole computer to sludge. I won’t be signing on again.

#3: Couponmom.com

This site was AWESOME!! Make sure to visit the ‘Learn to Coupon’ tab for instructional videos on how to use this site. Sure, I felt silly watching tutorials on couponing, but I learned a lot. I signed up as a member on this site and plan to try out the methods this weekend.

I love using coupons! Funny because my brother actually calls me the coupon lady. Haha

I print coupons every week from Coupons and SmartSource. I also print some from the grocery store themselves as well. We are able to save, on average $5 per week. That adds up to over three weeks of free groceries over the course of a year. It is definitely worth it!

You may want to check out Hip 2 Save and Southern Savers as they both have large coupon databases. Hip 2 Save does post a great deal of diaper and children’s coupons which is great for moms. Also, Free Sample Freak is a great site to get your basic items for free.

2 of those are sites I didn’t know about. Off to check them out. Thanks!

I also prefer retailmenot.com to coupon cabin. I’m a big online shopper and prefer to find just what I need and have it shipped to me rather than wasting time and gas running around looking for something. Online shopping also keeps me focused on getting only what I need. It’s not like shopping in a store where I might come across an item I think I have to have! I find what I want on line and then google the name of the store/site and coupon. Generally retailmenot is the first site that comes up, but sometimes there are others. More than half the time I end up with an additional discount for my purchase.

I CANT BELIEVE YOU LISTEN TO WSJ THIS MORNING. me too. i love that podcast. although our friend mr. deal seems to have been a little more politically outspoken of late; wish he wouldn’t do that.

I also love Hip2Save.com. It’s totally awesome. I am also a subscriber of this service that mails you 10 copies of the sunday’s inserts for 10.50/wk and that includes priority shipping. I live in the bondocks so this helps me since i don’t always go into town on sundays. the website is madcoupons.net.
I also suggest moneysavingmom.com she’s not just into coupons but other frugal things too.

As an ex-Apple Inc. computer executive, who is 60 years old, I resent your computer-savvy remark. I can draw rings around any teen tech tekkie and you are quite mistaken to think that people who are 60 don’t know sh*! regarding technology. Shame on you!

Written to you from my iPad, while listening to Lady Gaga and the Ramones on my iPod with one hand tied behind my back and using my other other hand to dial my SO from my iPhone while verbally shout outing this text to my Ford Sync. You could have caught the scene on Skype via youtube.

You’re forgiven, but please, go get a life!

We have a store out here called Kroger. Not sure if you have them out there. They have the Kroger plus card. I can load coupons on to the card via the internet from kroger.com and cellfire.com. You can also print them off and used them with the Kroger plus card for double savings. It’s a trick my wife uses all the time.

I love getting my info from slickdeals.com and coupons at thecouponclippers.com

REALLY wish we had a local Krogers store.

My friend Carrie has a website where she matches up coupons (online and newspaper) with weekly ads from target, wal-mart, CVS, walgreens and Homeland (don’t know if there are any of these outside of Oklahoma). It makes it crazy easy to coupon and save BIG because she does all the work for you… All you have to do is clip the coupons and print off her shopping list. She even links to the online coupons for specific sale items. I’ve tried the couponing using her tips and have saved anywhere from 40-95% off the original transaction.

    Her site is couponcloset.net.

I work at kroger and so many people are using coupons at my store. Sometimes they save like up to 30 bucks or more on groceries. Kroger also has fuel points to which people take advantage of.

So, what do you think ?
