I have been a longtime reader of your website, since Rebecca was writing. I have to say you’re doing great, your set back was for a good cause!
Keep up the good work, you inspire me everyday.
WOW, you guys are amazing!!!!
Ouch. But family is worth it.
Just don’t lose sight of how much you have accomplished. You’ve taken a zillion steps forward to your one step back. 🙂
Unless that was for $1000 worth of indulgent spa days for your pet…it’s worth it. Emergencies happen, and ignoring them isn’t the answer.
I’m curious though, what interest rate is your vet charging? Is that directly through the office (like a payment plan) or do vet offices now have financial “partners” to make loans like car companies do?
One question I had – in the midst of all the debt reduction, do you have any savings in an emergency fund? Sometimes it’s tempting to throw all of your money at your debt, but saving a bit in an EF can really help for emergencies…and a vet bill definitely qualifies! Just wondering…maybe taking out a loan for a vet bill could have been avoided.
Goal Jungle – There is no interest for 18 months from the vet as long as I make my payments on time.
Kari – Yes, we have a $1,000 emergency fund but since the loan is interest free, we are keeping out emergency fund and paying off the vet next month. The total bill was almost $1,800. Our emergency fund could not have paid for the whole thing.
Don’t sweat it too much; you’ll get there. We had the odd negative month in our debt-free run, but we made it.
You’ve got a plan, you’re executing the plan. Reality seldom conforms to your plan.
Of course you regret it now that you have to pay it! But just look in that cute little munchkin’s face! How can you put a price on that? It would be a steal at twice the price!
Awesome! You have made great progress, keep it up!
Well, I hope your dog is doing well. Just keep plugging away, I guess.
