I’m still busy with life at the moment, but I can finally see some calmer waters ahead starting tomorrow. Then I can get back to “normal” blog posting and give a whole bunch of updates. In the meantime, the following is something I started writing about before things got crazy. I decided to finish it up today.

When times are tough financially, it can be difficult to give money when you yourself are struggling. If you want to give more, here are seven websites that you can visit daily to help others. You don’t have to sign up for anything or give them money. All you have to do is click a button or answer some vocabulary questions. (The sites have been verified to be truthful by Snopes.com, a leading myth-buster – links to the Snopes articles below.)

Free Rice

Here’s a site where you go and test your vocabulary skills. For each correct answer, 20 grains of rice are donated to someone in need.

From their site:

FreeRice has two goals:

1.) Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2.) Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.

The Breast Cancer Site

This site, run by CharityUSA.com, provides mammograms to disadvantaged women. You can visit the site daily and click the “Click Here to Give – It’s Free” button. For every 45,000 clicks, one woman will get a free mammogram. Last month, they were able to give women 522 free mammograms.

From their site:

With a simple, daily click of the pink button at The Breast Cancer Site, visitors help provide mammograms to those in need. Visitors pay nothing. Mammograms are paid for by the site’s sponsors and distributed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

The Hunger Site

The Hunger Site, also run by CharityUSA.com, gives food according to the number of clicks received on their website. Last month, they were able to give 615,884 pounds of food.

From their site:

On average, over 220,000 individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the yellow “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button. To date, more that 200 million visitors have given more than 300 million cups of staple food.

The Animal Rescue Site

This site, also run by CharityUSA.com, helps to care for a rescued animal via the number of clicks received on their website. Last month, they were able to provide 3,858,985 bowls of food to needy animals.

From their site:

Each click on the purple “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals’ renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

The Child Health Site

This site is also run by CharityUSA.com. When you click on the button daily, you help robust child health around the globe. Last month, they were able to help 55,664 children.

From their site:

In less than five seconds, visitors to The Child Health Site can click on the “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button and, at no cost to them, save young lives and help children stay healthy.

The Rainforest Site

CharityUSA.com also runs this site. Your clicks help preserve land and last month they were able to protect 845.4 acres.

From their site:

Individuals from around the world visit the site each day to click the “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button and help rescue imperiled land. In just its first year of operation, The Rainforest Site generated funds to purchase and preserve over 5,650 acres of endangered land.

The Literacy Site

The Literacy Site is another one run by CharityUSA.com. A daily click of their button will help provide books for low income children. Last month, they were able to give 30,331 books.

From their site:

With the generous support of our sponsors, each click provides 1% of a book. Making books a part of a child’s life is the best way to encourage the love of reading, and literacy is key in breaking the poverty cycle.
