My Apologies

by

I want to apologize for not having a post written for my day today. Given the holiday and the day off yesterday, I got my days all mixed up and I forgot today was Tuesday. I fully intended on writing my post tonight (thinking today was Monday), until GF texted me, asking me when I was going to post:

GF: “Are you going to post today?”

Me: “I’m writing my post tonight but I won’t post it until the morning.”

GF: “It’s Tuesday, though”

After a few minutes thinking about it:

Me: “O #$%@. I forgot.”

Me: “The holiday really screwed me up.”

I spent the whole day at work before this point thinking today was Monday. So, instead of trying and failing to put something together, if you can forgive me, I’ll put together my post I was originally intending on writing and post it on Thursday (since Hope posts tomorrow).

Hey Matt, I’m not sure on this, but it feels like you’ve posted apologies for being late/absent a couple times before. As a former blogger here, I’d just encourage you that life happens, you’ll miss your posts periodically, but I don’t think you need to apologize – just go ahead and miss your date and put up a real post with content in it when you can. it will save you some time and save the readers from reading a post without any real relevant content. You’re doing great and your payoff commitment is inspiring – keep going!

Thanks Adam. I appreciate the thought. I just feel that readers expect a post on this day and when they come to check out the blog and there isn’t anything here, well…it feels I’ve let them down.

I totally agree with Adam. I’d rather not see a post at all than an apology.

For some reason, apology posts make my skin crawl. Not just this one, and not just on this blog. Surely somewhere in blogworld etiquette, there is a rule to not apologize. Just post when you can. If you must apologize to the owners of the blog, do so in a private email to them.

Hey, it happens. I love blogging, but it’s not the most important thing in life.

    I actually liked the apology-post.
I like to know what’s going on & am now looking forward to the Thursday-post.

You’re not the only one who was messed up and thought it was Monday. We have people in our building who work 4-10 hour days, Tues – Fri. I saw one of them yesterday & asked him why he was here; his reply was “well, it’s Tuesday…”

LOL… No worries. I’ve gotten bamboozled by the Monday holiday thing, too. I think we all have.

So, what do you think ?
