Because of the whole ‘family week’ thing I’ve got going, I thought it might be an appropriate time to update you on my family.

Baby boy is 2 1/2 months old now and so darn adorable.

We went to his 8 week check-up and my husband, all 5′ 10″ of him if he stands straight and eats his Wheaties, swore ‘his boy’ would be in the 75th percentile in height and the 50th percentile in weight (50th percentile is the size of an average child).

Baby boy is in the 30th percentile for height…

and the 65th percentile for weight.

So I thought this photo of him was fitting.

Overall, I can’t express how much I enjoy being a mom. Every moment is special – even the ones involving projectile poop. It’s so much better than I ever expected.

This week is the last week with him though. I’m heading back to work next week… and I’ve been crying since Tuesday.

Sigh.

Oh, he is gorgeous!!! Very handsome young man. Good luck for the return to work…heart-wrenching, isn’t it :(

  2. Debt-free Dan responded:

This is one of the greatest advantages of being debt-free is that my wife can stay at home and homeschool our two children.

I hope that your debt-freedom comes soon and gives the ability to make childcare choices that you think most benefit your family instead of feeling forced into choices due to financial constraints.

Very handsome young man! Thanks for posting.

i would love to hear about your experience as a working mom. i’m still trying to figure out what i want to do when i have kids (even though it’s like 3-4 years away still). i like my job and i have such good benefits, at the same time, i don’t know how i could leave my baby! bleh, so tough!

  5. Leah responded:

I can’t even imagine. I live in Canada and have seem my friend’s hearts break when they go back to work when their babies are 12 months old (because 1 year is pretty much the standard mat leave here) but 2 1/2 months that’s just torture.

  6. lizziem responded:

That is the cutest darn picture ever! At least he will be in really good hands…..not that it makes it any easier…..

  7. tiffany responded:

cash is too cute! my family called me mashmallow man for a good while (ghost busters). sigh! LOL. <3 remmeber to put priorities first. it's easy to think that money will buy us piece of mind.

Oh yeah, those mommy hormones are raging all right. ;-)

He looks like a gorgeous breast-fed baby (they have a different growth chart, or they are supposed to, btw. not sure if your doc had two or not.)

  9. Shauna responded:

That is one delicious looking baby boy!

  10. Nicole responded:

Makes me want to squish him! A least you know he’ll have an awesome babysitter with little helpers : )

  11. Sarah responded:

    Cute photos…

When I went back to work at 8 weeks with my first, I dropped him off at daycare and had a 7 minute commute. I cried the whole way there and then sat in the parking lot until I could pull myself together. I walked into the office to balloons and confetti on my desk and lost it. In my son’s scrapbook, I have a photo of me bawling while walking to my desk. Everyone was so kind and caring. The funny thing was, while I was at work, I almost forgot I had this little guy waiting for me…they let me leave an hour early and I was so excited when I realized – I get to go pick up my little guy.

It’ll be okay. For me who found it difficult to home without a schedule, working made the time with our son all that more special!

  12. Shannon responded:

He’s a cutie pie. It totally sucks having to work and leave your little one with anyone other than you. I escape every lunch time and go see my daughter. I don’t think i could make it thru the day if i didn’t have that break with her.

  13. Jean responded:

How adorable! I love the “buddha baby” (or “sumo baby”) stage.

  14. Mar responded:

Hr’s adorable. At least you aren’t getting the comments that I got when my daughter was an infant and born at 10th percentile weight and 75th percentile height. Yeah, she was kind of skinny. I was thrilled when she made it to 25th percentile weight, although she remained at 25th/75th w/h for about 2 years. Emmi, never heard about a different chart for breastfed kids, so who knows where she would have been if there was one back then.

  15. Nicole responded:

He is so cute and adorable!!! Thanks for sharing the pic :)
