Well, I was tempted to skip over this update and hope no one noticed.
Darn my honesty.
We went nowhere on debt this month. Why? Shopping Sprees? New TV’s?
Not so much.
Our extra debt payments went to insulating our home and to pay to my brother’s father-in-law (combined with some manual labor) for some desperately needed furniture.
Perhaps the best part of this equation? We have a nearly new fancy mattress. Now, sure, it would be difficult NOT to impress me. Our previous mattress was more than a dozen years old. But for TWO YEARS, I thought I was an insomniac.
Turns out. I’m not. I just needed a new bed.
I would say I’m losing sleep over this update but for the first time since we bought this house, the temperature in our bedroom is over 55 degrees even though it’s 37 outside and our mattress is zzzzzzzzzzz…

Good for you on the new bed. Being able to sleep makes everything better.

Considering what happened to your furniture and the fact that the old mattress had you losing sleep, I’d say you’ve done pretty well.
You could focus on the lack of movement, but a more positive look at it is you got the furniture and mattress without adding any debt. That too is an accomplishment.

I hear ya! It was a bad month for me too: zero paid towards debt for the first time ever, AND I increased my debt, to boot. Oh well, it can only go upwards from here, right?
Keep on with the good fight, you’re so close!10

Oh man, a good night’s sleep is the one thing that is worth going into debt for. That’s a real investment with a real payout.
Hey, the debt went down, not up. You’re still sticking to your plan, not back sliding. Still a successful month.

You’re still making great progress! Good for you! $8k may seem like a large number still but with your steady progress it’ll be gone before you know it! Do you have a debt free goal date? End of this year? Earlier? I can’t wait for the announcement that you’re free of that student loan!

Good job you are making progress and soon you will be debt free. Try to stay positive, because it is going to be a great feeling when you finally get out of debt once and for all
Keep us posted! Looking forward to your next update.
