The August payment to Toyota is due in precisely eight days. Our usual monthly payment is $1,000.
Our remaining balance is $1,500.
Oh that annoying extra $500. It’s the itch I can’t scratch. I could wait until September to be done with Toyota or… I could take every odd job under the sun and finish it now.
I’ve never been a patient person.
My husband and I have been taking random jobs this month and so far, we have $380 extra dollars. We are on an eight day challenge to earn the last $120.
We can do this.

You can do it! You are so close….sell some junk from the attic, or have a lemonade stand. I am sure you can do it.
I just paid a bill off yesterday that was scheduled to be paid off in August, but we decided to take the plunge and take a little from our savings and just be done with it.
I cried when I wrote the check.

You absolutely can. And I understand how you feel. You want it over and done with. I agree with Mysti, empty out the closets, attic, etc. – have a garage sale. You’ll earn that last $120 before you know it.

Circulate an email at work and among your family and friends listing all the CDs, DVDs and computer games you like to sell. Bet you can declutter and raise half of what you need.
We constantly trade/buy/sell amoung ourselves at my office. Mostly we buy and sell, but sometimes rather than “free to a good home”, something goes for the price of a coffee brought to your desk when they come by to pick up the item.

Oh I totally agree with everyone else you can do it. If I could pay mine off right now doing odd jobs then thats what I would do especially this close. Thats like having the candy bar dangle in front of you when you are on a diet and you cant have it until the end of the next month. Don’t tease your self and take the plunge! Good luck and say BYE BYE to Toyota!

How exciting!!! Can’t wait to hear what happens. So long Toyota!

Oh, how exciting! What a great feeling that will be to have it paid off. I haven’t had a car payment in years and it’s a great feeling. It’s addicting once you get used to living that way. Good luck!

For a mere $120 I would raid my emergency fund and pay it back by lowering my snowball in Sept. Owning the car right now would feel so good. Plus, with a $1000 payment freed up, the balance on the next debt should start dropping like a rock.

Kudos! So, how did you make the extra $380 this month? What sort of jobs and how do you find them?? Congratulations!!!

Come on Beks….surely there’s SOMETHING you can get rid of on Craigslist????? Can’t wait to hear that you did it!!!!

I agree with the other posters on here, you can do it! I know the feeling. I have an elaborate excel spreadsheet that I set up about two years ago when I started my debt pay off plan. If I see an account that will have a small balance in the last month, I will suck it up the previous 2 or 3 months and make a larger payment, just to have that account paid off a month earlier than planned. Good luck, Becky!

Heh, you have stable legs.

Sell all but one pair of your high heels!

You bet you can do this! I love how you are motivated to make that last big push. That last little payment on a debt is always the most exhilarating.

Can you give an example of the random jobs you’ve taken? How does one find random jobs???? Please share.

Keep it up! I just found your blog and you really are inspiring.

YOu are doing GREAT!!! Almost there.

If you can’t find enough thing to sell on Craigslist and eBay to make up the missing amount, you could also sell hard to find coupons. Just another idea on how to make a few bucks! Good luck with paying off the Toyota.

I did that with my car this year too. Oh sense of peace you have will be wonderful. My payment for the car was nearly what I was paying in rent. I will never make car payments again!

I love how motivated you are!!!

That is wonderful that you have almost paid off your Toyota, then do you move that payment to the next card?
