Sorry, but what&#039;s up with the Christmas gift?  I&#039;m going to assume that was bought before he was laid off and was unreturnable?  When you&#039;re stretching the remnants in the pantry to avoid buying groceries, buying any gifts seems counter productive.

I&#039;d be interested to hear from others on whether they cut out or back on gifts this year. We opted out of some exchanges we&#039;ve done in previous years, and for our own kids we cut back and shopped very carefully for what we did get.  My husband and I stopped exchanging gifts 20yrs ago. If there&#039;s anything we truly need it can&#039;t wait for Christmas, and anything non-essential just becomes clutter.</description>
