My little brother is getting married tomorrow.
He’s been dealing with a constant barrage of advice from his divorced co-workers – all telling him he’s making a mistake getting married. Not because he’s marrying the wrong girl, but because they think marriage in general is a mistake.
To my brother,
I remember how nervous I was on my wedding day. I wasn’t sure if my marriage would work. I was scared to fail at something so big.
Five years later, I can tell you this…
It’s worth it.
The laughter, the fun, the tears, the fights…
It’s all worth it.
Chris sent me a text today that said, ‘After almost 5 years of marriage, I love you more today than I did when we first started this adventure.’ I picked a great guy and I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing five years. I am so so very blessed with marriage.
You picked a great girl. You’re in for a great adventure.
Happy Wedding Day.

Beks – you’re a good big sister. I heard similar stuff when my hubby and I got married – that we should just continue living together, marriage was a huge pain, etc. And I kept it to myself but I always had this deep seated feeling that I was doing the right thing and I knew that this was the path I was supposed to be on (besides the fact that I was truly marrying my best friend.).
Best wishes to your baby brother – you’ll have to post a picture of you in a bridesmaids dress!

His friends and coworkers should butt out! It’s his life. Married people live longer and have more financial success.
Your blog is always a pleasure to read. I keep a link to your blog on my site at all times.

Thanks for writing, and keep up the good work, Beks!

How annoying that his coworkers are trying to dampen his spirits. I wish him all the best.

Happy Wedding day to your brother!
I’m so not a fan of marriage naysayers.Bitterness will get you nowhere. Marriage has its ups and downs, but all in all–I love being married. It helps when you pick a great partner! DH’s coworkers all complain about their marriages. I feel bad for them.
We just celebrated 11 years of marriage this summer, and I gotta say–it’s gone by so fast, I can’t even believe it’s been that long. I take that as a good sign

What a lovely note to your borther!
And boo to his naysaying co-workers! Even if they’re opposed to marriage for whatever reason, that’s THEIR choice, and it’s extremely rude and presumptuous of them to think they should tell him how to live his life. Ugh.
