I find bachelor and bachelorette parties are top priorities. It means A LOT to people when you are invited and come to their party. As long as it doesn’t cost $1,000, there is no reason to save a few hundred bucks in exchange for having someone upset at you the rest of your lives.

I think you need to have a balance in your life – you can’t turn down ALL social opportunities just so you can pay off your debt a month sooner. (on the flip side, you can’t do EVERYTHING you want to do or else you’ll NEVER get rid of your debt!) Hope you have a great time!

Jolie I think the scale of the bachelor/bachelorette parties really depends on the bride and groom. And, in this case, geography. Beks lives in San Diego, so it’s probably easy for them to go to Las Vegas or on a cruise. It’d be harder for me to get to Las Vegas from Boston than for someone in California.

I can see why wedding expenses can add up so quickly. Around my neck of the woods, the prestuff is done on a smaller scale, or locally. I’ve never known folks to go on cruises or fly to Vegas for a bachelor/ette party.
