Don't sell your items to those cheap places... like Larry mentioned above, put them to sell on craiglist (or ebay). Personally, I use ebay and it is very easy to set it up, not to mention that you end up earning much more than those sites on the article above if you know how to properly charge for your item (ie do not make the initial selling value too high).

I treid posting some stuff on Craigslist recently, and got no hits whatsoever. I think everyone just goes there to sell, not to buy

I always try and sell my stuff on Craigslist. Make sure you take some good pictures of the item. Use a white sheet as a backdrop to make it look crisp and clear, just hang it over a door and use a small table or tv tray to set the item on. Also, when placing your ad, use a lot of power words as well as key words ppl may use to look up.

I usually post my phone number so they have to call me if they are innterested. I have gotten many emails before with nothing coming of them.

Tricia, first of all, thanks for the tip on the Bissell QuickSteamer. I purchased one this weekend and it worked amazingly well. Considering the effort and cost involved in renting a cleaner, moving everything, rushing back in 24 hours, etc., it was worth every penny of $79.99 purchase.

Secondly, if anybody does recycle computer equipment, etc., make sure you remove the hard drive completely. No reason to give your personal data away! Even some of the disk drive "wipers" don't do a complete job. Easier to remove the hard drive, store it if you want, or at least take a sledge hammer to it.
