Mar – the reduction in my hours was voluntary. I asked for them. But I can go back to full-time if I choose to if the business doesn’t profit as quickly as projected and my health improves.

Tricia, congratulations on hitting another milestone – that’s awesome. I’m sure it was tough when your hours were reduced, but at least you are using the time productively and enjoying it. Hopefully, your hours will be increased soon, but if not, you are one of the people that I truly think can handle the reduction. I’m guessing the next goal is to get over $30K paid off – you’re only $385 from that – how impressive!

Da Big D, I don’t think the reduction in hours was voluntary, so Tricia doesn’t really have a choice on continuing to work the same number of hours (or at least getting paid for them if she works them).

I would rather see you continue your hours at your job and pay off your debt. Then work on your new business. Now is not the best of times to start a business, and being debt free with some emergancy cash locked away is a good thing.

Running a business is hard. It takes years to become profitable for the most part. There are a lot of things involved that you have to learn as you go.
