I really wanted to update everyone on here to let you know everything was fine after last night’s post, but some technical issues popped up and I couldn’t log in to write a post. But, I think everything is back to normal now :)

The heat has been on all day today and there is no carbon monoxide in our house, so our scare was just a scare. I am very thankful. We spent the money this time to buy a really good detector that even has a digital readout. Sometimes, a little peace of mind is worth the extra cost. On the other hand, my head still hurts so it makes it my fourth day in a row with a headache. Except now it includes an earache and my neck hurts. It’s definitely my sinuses acting up. I wish now that I could go back to only having the headache LOL.

I’ve been pretty miserable today, but we did manage to get out and look at some fall colors. I wish the leaves would stick around a little bit longer before falling to the ground. The colors were so vibrant today, especially the reds. I haven’t downloaded our pics yet, but if any turned out nice I’ll post one (or a few) here. Cameras never seem to pick up the colors like our eyes can.

That will be all for my blog post today. I think I’m going to do a few things around the house, take some vitamin C and go to bed early tonight. Hopefully I can knock this out of my system without going to the doctors. We’ve had our fill of medical bills lately :P

Hi! I have only been reading your blog for a little while, but when I read it this evening I thought I might share some info with you about your headaches and such. When you go from cooling to heating, the heat acts like summer to the mold that is present in your duct system and was dormant while you were cooling your home. The mold wakes up when the heat is turned on and begins to release spores and they are not caught by regular filters. We found this out when our doctor discovered our son has a life threatening allergy to mold, particularly black mold, which loves to grow in ducts. Most people have little or no trouble with this mold. But our house was so infected that it gave us all problems and was killing my son’s immune system. We eventually had to sell our house because we could not afford to fix the problem. These spores can cause headaches and other symptoms that may seem like a cold or the flu or a sinus infection. The heat eventually kills a good deal of the mold, but not enough to clear the ducts. You might want to investigate having your ducts blown out.
    Sincerely,
    Angela

When I first read your post about your scare, the first thing that I thought of was “her sinuses are acting up”. I’ve been going through the same thing since Sunday. Except this time I did have to go to the dr. It’s the third time I’ve had a sinus infection in 3 months. The also sent me for a CT Scan of my sinuses. We really did not need that expense right now. But we’ll be ok.

I’m glad it wasn’t CO2, and I hope you feel better soon! :)

Are you sure your teeth are OK? I had a similar headache experience several years ago that I thought was a sinus headache. It took about a week before the pain finally localized in a tooth. I then quickly got in to see the dentist and it took him about 30 seconds to determine that I had an abscessed tooth. Hope that’s not the case for you and that your headache passes soon!

Nine Circles – unfortunately, I have been through the pain of an abscessed tooth several years ago too. I went to the ER (it was the weekend) and not even vicodin helped. I don’t believe this is an abscessed tooth, but if it is, I’m in trouble. I had to have the one before pulled (a cracked root) and I don’t want to lose another on that side :(
