As crazy as this sounds…I live in LA, and NEVER had cable! Yes, I am debt, but just addicted to everything else! LOL Since I never had it, I don’t even miss it!

The ironic thing is, so many friends still had dial up, at one point, and I was into the higher speed cable. They constantly belittled me for no cable tv..sorry..just ranting!

I dropped cable ($65+/month bill) last year and I’ve never regretted it, although I have an HDTV now and get stunning on-air channels. I’ve subscribed to Netflix for $17 a month (3 DVDs at a time) and I find I’m using my time a whole lot better by watching 1-2 hours of good movie a night instead of sitting like a sloth couch potato flipping through garbage I don’t really want to watch.

Looks like there’s lots of good TV coming on this fall too. Especially that Sci-Fi series with my favorite actor, Rufus Sewell.

Jerry: Hulu doesn’t work if you are not connected to a US ISP. I’m currently in Canada and just tried to play something and got that message.

This is an ongoing problem for me (Daily Show clips are another example, and some of the additional ABC footage for Amazing Race.)

And when we were in the US during hockey playoffs, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. wouldn’t allow us to watch the games online because we weren’t at a Canadian ISP.

Sorry, but they know where you are watching from therefore can cut you off.

Oh yeah, Hulu is the best! It leads us away from the TV set and it also gives us some insurance that we will still be able to watch American shows for free, even when overseas. Nice!

Hulu.com is an amazing freebie, if I cant find a movie or show on tv-links.cc, then it is always on hulu and the download times are not that bad iwth Hulu either! Only reason I have cable tv is to be able to watch live sports, all tv shows and sitcoms I am watching on the net.

The big TV question, do you drop the cable? I am considering the same for myself, except where I live we have no cable, only satellite, so I could save $70 a month by dropping it. Why is it so hard to drop? Jeez.

I’m trying to become one of those coupon queens that can walk out of the store with a cart full of groceries for a dime or whatever. I’m not there yet, but I’ve saved a hundred bucks in 2 weeks, and we are having fun trying new things.
