I can tell by the visitors stopping by via Google that many people are wondering about the stimulus payments. We didn’t get ours yet, but then again we weren’t supposed to be in this first round anyways. Soon enough, it will come.
Anyways, I found a section on the IRS website where you can “Get the amount and date of your Economic Stimulus Payment now!”:
Big note on this, from the site (I added emphasis):
We recommend checking the Payment Schedule prior to using this application since your payment information will not be available on this tool until the time that your payment is scheduled.
So, if you are scheduled to receive your payment via direct deposit next week, you probably won’t show up in their system until next week.

As usual, I checked your blog for any updates because I knew you would have any info!
Thanks!

I have been looking as well. Nothing on any money back to us taxpayers though. I did find an article that has the credit cards up in arms. The Fed is preparing to “re-regulate” quite a bit of things they find unfair and deceptive. It should be interesting. I blogged about it some today.

Nice site. I just started my own debt blog. I am only a couple of days into it.

It’s funny because I was just thinking that too - we were supposed to be in the first round so I thought by Wed for sure. I just checked this morning and it was in my bank! What a nice surprise - so this just goes to show it does actually exist! =)

I’m guessing mine is on the todo list for next week. Could really use it now since my car decided to break down.

I got mine this morning through direct deposit and immediately spent it on bills.

I was scheduled for first round. Still no money. Taxes filed electronically before end of January. Promptness doesn’t always payoff.

Was Suppose to receive ours on Friday of last week direct deposit according to the schedule you find. but guess what someone messed up and know its coming by check and will be mailed out next week it says. What is wrong with irs?

RD and Kimmy,
There are exceptions to the direct deposit scenario, such as:
1. If you took a refund anticipation loan, you will get a check
2. If you used Turbotax (and probably other tax preparation services) and had them take the preparation fee out of your anticipated refund, you’ll get a check
Apparently, in both cases, the IRS has the bank info for the entity which received your refund and which then forwarded it to you, rather than your bank info. You’ll get a paper check if you are due a rebate. There are probably other situations like these which would result in a paper check as well.
In addition, if you owe the IRS money or have back child support due, it will be taken out of your rebate. There’s something on the IRS website about this applying to student loans as well. I’m not in any of these situations, so I didn’t pay close attention to them.
Kimmy, you asked what’s wrong with the IRS. Frankly, given the relatively short amount of time they had to do this, the complexity of figuring out who gets what when by what delivery method, and the fact that they were in the middle of tax seasons when they had to analyze, design, code, test, fix issues, and retest this new program, I’m rather impressed that they were able to pull it off!

Ok so wait. Mine was suppose to be by May 2nd. My taxes were done at H & R Block and the fee was deducted from my refund so I will get a paper check? Where did you find that info? I have been looking and looking b/c I had a felling about that! Figures!

Oops feeling not felling. Long day.

Ya I finally found it on irs website that if you have it taken out at tax time you have to wait for a check. I think they should have mentioned that instead of making people wait and not no what is going on and think they will get electronic into the bank.

The explanation I saw was at Turbotax; here’s a link: http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/kb/tax-content/tax-tips/6255.html I think it gives a lot of detail that the IRS didn’t so customers won’t get mad at Turbotax.
The IRS FAQ does include an answer that if you entered into a refund anticipation loan (RAL) or other financial agreement with your preparer, you’ll get a paper check. I’m guessing that “other financial agreement” would include paying for the preparation out of your anticpated refund.

I have one ? if you are married and only one works you only get 600. instead of 1200?
Thats what mine says we only get 600 for the two of us. I guess my work at home raising the kids is not enough lol.

I had to pay last year and sent in my check at the end of March. The IRS already cashed my check, but we have not received my payment. Will I receive a paper check since I owed instead of getting a refund?

I received a letter about the Economic Stimulus Check, saying that they were not going to send money for my child. He was 17 last year, and he just turned 18 this March. I would like to know if there was an error, or if he will receive the money. Thank you.

the strangest thing happened to me. i’m expecting my stimulus payment this friday, and like an idiot, i REALLY need it at this point. however, i’ve checked the ” where’s my stimulus payment ” several times on the IRS site and they could not locate any information. i’ve been worried a bit that for some reason it’s being mailed to me rather than deposited as it should be, since no info could be located. however, i just tried again, and lo and behold it stated that my deposit was coming this friday. i refreshed and checked again, and it said that no information could be located again! lol. trust me, i’m not crazy and i know my information. word of advice is to not worry until you don’t get your check the day that you’re suppose to, because i really think that the ” where’s my stimulus payment?” feature is glitching out and obviously mixing up its info.

Well, according to the schedule I was suppose to get our payment on May 9th. We had direct deposit for our refund so it should have been the same for our stimulas. We already talked to our tax guy and he said he didn’t have anything taken out of our refund so we have no clue why its not going through as direct deposit. Plus, we haven’t even received a letter stating what to expect. So far every time I check the site it shows nothing can be found for my SS#. I am fine if its going to be late I just want to know what caused us to not get it when it was scheduled since we didn’t use H&R or any online program, we went through an actual tax guy that does my parents taxes and he told us that no fees were scheduled to be taken out of our refund.

Still no money and we was suppose to be in the first round on the checks coming out…

We just found out that we will not be getting a check. It will be going to the IRS for back taxes.
