You know...I wouldn't have a clue on how to splurge with $750. Ok. Maybe there's that LCD TV that keeps calling my name, but I told it to call back in a year or so ;)

If we used half of it for something other than debt, it would go towards repairs for our house or maybe towards our upcoming business.

The current plan is to take $1,000 right off the bat at throw it at our debt. We'll do some repairs around the home and then see what is left. Thank goodness our repairs are only minor and we can do them ourselves. But the little repairs add up.

Do necessary maintenance (houses in your harsh climate suffer), but throw the rest at the debt. The relief you will feel when it is gone will last a lot longer than any short-term pleasure from spending.

I hate to disagree with everyone but I DON'T think you should blow half of your tax payment ($750) on fun stuff. $100 maybe on a nice dinner if you really need the pick-me-up, but not the rest. I know your 0% credit card offer is only good until the end of the summer/early fall, and with the credit markets frozen, who knows how many good offers there will be out there? The more you can pay down now, the less you will have to pay later if you are stuck paying interest! I DO think you should do a little something nice for yourself -- when your credit card balance hits $0 and you have money in the bank!

You are doing great on your debt! I can't wait until mine is under 10k. I just reached the under 30k mark this week.

You should take a bit of the money and buy your self something! I totally agree with the other comments.

Congrats! It is so inspiring to see your progress. I only hope I have that much luck someday. Your Progress was a subject of a blog post today.

I'm going to agree with Da Big D. Listening to the news every day on the way to work, I've been overly consumed by talk of the recession -- and it's depressing. I know it's important to be smart with money, but it seems like you've had your ducks in a row for some time. Why not give yourself a little treat!

Why not take 50% of your check and do something for your husband and you? Do something for the two of you and enjoy yourselves. Then use the other 50% to pay down the debt. Look at it this way, you didn't have the money before, so 50% of it is better then 0%!!!
