We were able to pay some more towards our credit card debt today and it now stands at $13,399.
It’s weird, because even though we still have quite a bit of debt left, I feel like we are in the home stretch. I feel pushed to pay off as much as we can as quickly as we can. I was going to wait for another check to arrive before paying extra but I decided to go ahead and do it. Our checking account will be pretty low until that check arrives, but we’ll be okay.
Looking ahead for the rest of the month, hopefully we will have our tax refund (about $500) and that will go directly towards our debt. I’m not sure how much more we’ll be able to pay. Our health insurance bill is due at the end of the month ($800 for two months) and estimated taxes are due early next month. Expense-wise, it’s a tough time of the year.
If we break below the $13,000 mark for the month of March I will be very pleased

I know you’re very excited to break the 13k mark, just make sure you can cover the insurance bill first. I’m also paying off a bunch of stuff this month and have to calm down and think about who I’m paying and how much. The last thing I want to do is pay off debt and have no money left to pay normal bills. Good job so far this month!

It’s tempting to stretch too far and be cash poor when other bills come due. It’s good to hear that you are planning for the insurance bill, and other similar expenses during this “home stretch.”

I’m very confident that you will get below $13,000.
You are truly an inspiration!

Your site is truly inspirational! In the past couple of days that I have been reading your debt has already dropped some! I think you will totally make your May 2009 goal. Probably as the numbers get lower you’ll have even more incentive to find extra money and send it in! Cheers.

Trish, there’s always your savings if you do end up “forgetting” about that insurance bill. Keep up the good work on the debt!!

Wow Trish, I don’t comment often but I check your blog every day. You are just motoring along with that debt. It’s quite amazing.
We are hoping to be debt free by the 1st anniversary of my blog (around July 7). It’s probably unlikely but if we don’t aim for it, we definitely won’t achieve it.
Once again, well done!

That is fantastic, well done on your progress. It always feels so great being able to reach a milestone with paying off a debt. Good luck in clearing it as soon as you can.
