I've had a home office since 1980. Pre children I took a two hour walk everyday to get out of the house. During pre school we had a babysitter (a teen) twice a week who sat with the kids while I ran errands, and when the kids were older I ran errands while they took piano lessons, violin or soccer practice. Now (almost an empty nester for good) I go to Trader Joes, the post office and spend a lot of time slicing fruits and vegetables. If a home office task is just too much you'll find me cleaning the stove and cutting vegetables. Our gasoline bill is about $50 a month tops and we can drive our 1999 Taurus. We gave a new car to our recent graduate from BU (no we did NOT pay cash) and our 2004 Corolla to our Stanford senior. Can you guess who is economizing? Yes, me!

It's sweltering hot over here in the DC area. I'm still walking around in shorts with my air condition on. Strangest October in a long time.

Next time you get stir crazy working at home, think about this: I leave at 7 am and get home at 7 pm to work an 8 hour day (actually 9 cause I sit at my desk at lunch). Commuting SUCKS!

WOW I can't even imagine having the heat on right now! we live in texas and still in the 80's and 90's. Geez, who likes cold weather??

Our heater is electric and our utility bills in the winter here are 60-70.

In the summer our bill runs 180 though ;(

I love Texas and the south, you can buy 3000 sq houses here for 150!!
