Carnivals, Paying off $70k in Debt, Closing Credit Cards, an Award and a Free DVD

Yay! It’s Friday and I couldn’t be happier. Here’s some articles that caught my eye this week and information about a free DVD is at the end (thanks Dawn for the tip!).

The Carnival of Personal Finance is up at the Mint Blog (I submitted I Know Why I’m Fat! It’s Because of My Credit Cards!!).

The Festival of Frugality is up over at Money Walks (I submitted Free or Low Cost Entertainment Ideas for Families).

NCN shared some awesome news that fellow NCN Network member, Debt Monster, has paid off over $70k in 19 months. All I can say is WOW and CONGRATS to Debt Monster!

Single Ma has a very informative post (with examples) on How to Close Credit Cards Without Affecting Your Credit Scores

Free DVD – Planet Heroes (kids DVD) from Mattel. I signed up, and it is completely free although you start to wonder because you are checking out from the Mattel store. Don’t worry, you don’t have to enter any payment information. It says it will take 12-14 weeks for delivery and it is while supplies last.

    Hi Tricia
    Your blog has been a great inspiration to me since I discovered the PF blogging world about six weeks ago.
    I have even started my own blog, called So Sick of Debt. I have found it quite cathartic and also that it helps keep me accountable .. even if I don’t really know what I’m doing yet (eg links etc).
    So once again, thanks for being an inspiration!

    I too am sick of debt. I have been trying really hard over the last few years and am finally almost there. It has taught me many thing though and I know in the future I will not show as much disregard for credit cards and loans.
