In NLP it's called reframing - in otherwords look at things in a different way and it can make a whole heap of difference to the way you feel now!
Great post!

dear bloggingaway debt,
yes, perspective is a good thing. i've been so down too lately about finances and the daily grind of life. anyways, i recommend having a day of calm quiet if possible. also it's always good to read a wonderful book or see a well made movie to give me a sense of appreciation either for the artform and/or for how many different ways there are to live in this world. i recently read Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell. Talk about perspective. It made me feel like a lady of leisure who eats bon bons all day. It was a fascinating and incredibly well written book about being poor in Europe in the 1930s. I highly recommend it. And I assure you it will give you perspective.

Yes, perspective is a good thing.

Who can count how many times we drop the ball and needed a jolt of perspective?

Another thing that helps is taking a break and doing something that can calm the soul. :)

I think it's great that in the middle of dealing with so much you can give the people who read your blog such an uplifting post. That sounds so cheesy. I appreciate your optimism; it helps me be optimistic.

My husband had a very rough couple of days recently--all related to concern about money, work, mortgage, etc. Then yesterday we heard that my 3 year old nephew's teacher has serious concens about his social abilities and interaction. Suddenly, my sister is panicked about Asberger's syndrome and autism. Boy, did that put everything in perspective, and in very short order. We have three healthy children and a very happy marraige. If we had to choose between that and absolute financial security, we'd pick the happy/healthy route hands down.

I didn't write in yesterday, but thought about your question a lot. I think the answer I finally came up with was that I'd like to enjoy and be satisfied with what we have and who we are--because we do have an awful lot--and not keep wishing for more.

I hope you have a better day today!
