After Sunday’s fall into Lake Superior, I thought my camera was gone for good. I decided to put some batteries in yesterday and it worked! Sort of.
The first one is a pic of my dog eating and the second one is of my husband:

Don’t give up on the camera. If water got inside, it will take a long time to dry out. If you could disassemble it without causing damage, it might dry faster (patience may be the better option). As long as the motors don’t corrode, it should work like new when it’s finally dry. The electronics typically are not permanently damaged by water.

Most electronics can survive a dip in the water these days. One time I accidentally washed my cell phone in the clothes washer, and after it dried out, it worked again. It wouldn’t have survived the dryer, though. Heat is the real electronics killer.
