A while ago, I posted an announcement for CNN because they were looking for people to talk to about their debt. A fellow debt blogger rose to the challenge and his interview was broadcast today!
To see the video, go to this link at cnn.com. A special thanks to K and Andrew for providing the direct link (for the life of me I couldn’t figure it out LOL). The video is titled “Spouse hid $70K in debt, 3 signs yours is too.”
Congrats to Fellowes from Dollar Buy Dollar for being brave and discussing your debt. I’m sure your story will help a lot of people!

I was surprised to hear how common it is for spouses to lie about their debt (1 in 3)…I wonder how they arrived at that number?
Honesty is the single most important thing in a relationship. I always sit down with my wife and discuss our finances on a weekly basis. We won’t get anywhere without regular open communication.

I like how that video pointed out the Dave Ramsey show. Last year I listened to the weekly radio show Everyday Wealth Radio but that is gone. Good job to Fellowes for putting himself out there regarding debt. I find blogging provides a sort of public open honesty while still keeping your identity secret. After reading personal finance blogs for a few months, I started one myself to track my debt and face it head on.
Regarding money and relationships, they have to go hand in hand. I agree with Chris, open communication regarding money, bills, debt, should be frequent and often. At the same time, one another should not bombard the topic to make talking about it leave a sour taste. My wife always laughs when I ask our pets when they’re going to start paying rent. Cats offer very little response and the dog gives me a stupid look.
Great interview Fellowes and congrats for being on CNN!

I just started blogging about our debt. This weekend I’ll be posting financial information like how far in debt we are. In future posts I will be reviewing various bills we have and how we can cut expenses. The hope is that this process will force me to look through our situation more closely. All input is welcome.
