The events of the past week have taken a toll on me and I hit a low point yesterday. Sometimes, when it rains it pours and that has been what this past week has been like. I won’t bore you with the details right now, but along with grieving we will be dealing with a financial blow shortly. A one-two punch was more than I could handle.
Today when I woke up, I still felt a little depressed although the sleep did do me some good. Later in the day, I was outside smoking when an idea hit me like a freight train. An idea similar to this one had been floating around in my head for a while, but nothing as detailed as what hit me today. When I think about how my life is and how I want it to be, this idea can get me there. All of a sudden I had a huge smile on my face and I was singing along to tunes while working. That’s how I love to feel. Motivated… inspired… full of hope. It’s the best “high” you can get. Unfortunately, it wore off.
I’m still excited about my idea and I wrote it down on a piece of my son’s green construction paper so I won’t forget it. As I’m typing I’m glancing over at my scribbles. My “high” wore off because reality had set in and now I’m wondering where I’ll find the time to bring my idea to life.
That’s the thing. It seems like I have a million things I need to do and a million things I’d like to do. My idea can get me the time I need to be able to do the things I’d like to do. It can work and I know I can get it to work if only I had the time.
It is sort of like that saying…You need a car to get a job, but you need a job to buy a car.
How do you get by that? Honestly, at this point I’m not sure.
I need time to figure it out

I totally understand where you are coming from. I have TONS of ideas but the time is just not there right now, nor do I think it ever will be. I work full time, go to school full time, have a wife, house, and dog to take care of, etc. and I’m only 24 to boot! (ie. social life? not really existent right now). People always need more time, and it will never cease. The one thing I have learned to do is to prioritize a lot better. I also set my schedule at the beginning of the day and try not to deviate from it. The “high” you mention I get a lot from reading blogs, working out, etc. I try to keep doing things that make me feel like that all the time. Pick up “Getting Things Done” by David Allen at the library. It might help. You’ll get through this! Stay positive!

Tricia, this would be my strong point. I am good at thinking outside of the box. My struggles come when they try to keep me restrained in the box. LOL.
First, let me say, you have thought it up, so you can definitely make it real. Everything you need is inside of you.
Now, I want you to look at your goal and step back. Remove emotion. I know it is hard but hold on to your enthusiasm and logic.
Just what is it you need? Write it down. Put that piece of paper somewhere where you will be looking at it often.
Now, make a list. Everything and every possibility no matter how crazy or impossible you think it is.
Most likely, your possibilities will include the intercession of another. Know your goal, know your possibilities and go for it. Present to them your dream and show them how they can help and make something for their secured position.
The sky’s the limit. The only thing stopping you is yourself.

Beg, borrow or buy a copy of the DVD, The Secret. Visualize, feel, and believe that you have ALREADY implemented your idea. If you put it out there, and really believe, the universe will open up for you. Just be open and follow what comes to you in your dreams, gut, instincts, or contacts.

Tricia - isn’t this frustrating! Urgh! My fiance and I have been in a similar frame of mind and it’s so frustrating when things don’t seem to move as fast as you’d like. Argh! My fiance has had a hard time finding a steady job (he gets lots of temp jobs) and the reason is because he doesn’t have that piece of paperwork from a college for the work he does. They say he needs education to back it up. I have a friend who is in the same line of work, who can also not find steady work at a company. She has the education but she doesn’t have the experience like my fiance does. They tell her she needs more experience. My fiance finally went back to school to get that paperwork and all his teachers and classmates don’t understand why he’s there - he blows them out of the water. My friend moved on to a different career.

You don’t need a car. You can walk, bus, take a train, hitch hike etc… Sure its not easy, but anything that is good isn’t.
I have these little ideas every so often and I go for it. I just do it. Most don’t work out some do.

well how do you take a bus, taxi or whatever when you live in the country. Sounds like an Al Gore thing but yet he rides in a Jet. Go figure. I don’t know where this saying comes from but this is a good one.

To think he is fooling people to use public transportation, bike while he can take advantage of peoples minds.
