Anonforeverything - the best piece of advice that I can give anyone who is thinking of making money with a blog is to REALLY think about it. I do make money with advertisements, but if you take all of the hours that I have spent on my blog and put the income received on a per hour basis, I am making less than $1/hr. That isn't a very effective use of my time.

The greatest value I have received from my blog is the focus it has given me. Without this blog, I may not have been able to pay off as much debt as I have. My readers have been invaluable in terms of support and since debt isn't discussed that much - it's always nice to know that we aren't alone.

So, if you are starting a blog for making money, really think about it first. If it wasn't for the fact that my blog is keeping me focused, I should have quit blogging a long time ago and still should quit. As of right now I make around $3-4/hr.

Thanks for the link to City Girl. My husband and I figured we are now making "enough" but I wonder when that will change? I suppose now is the true test of staying on track - which is bot exciting and very scary!

Hi there I saw that you had commented on my blog. I really like your site. You have TONS of useful information here. Do you have any tips for me since I am just starting out? I am wondering what you think is the single most important thing to do with your blog in order to make money off of it (aside from updating it regularly). Is it best to first find readers? Submit to directories? Put things like "Digg" and "Technorati" on it? I am so confused. Maybe you can write a blog entry on it? I am going to be adding your site to my list of links, and probably spending a lot of time reading it!
