Overall, August was a very good month for debt reduction. Our credit card debt was decreased by $1,492 and I am very happy with that amount.
I wish that rate could be kept up, but I know for September it will be difficult. The house repair expenses are unavoidable and we’ve actually put them off over a year. I don’t think we can last another winter without the repairs.
Thinking farther ahead, I’m not sure how the rest of the year will pan out. There has been discussion of my husband quitting his job and working solely on his business. It will be interesting, to say the least, if we can manage to keep on track with reducing debt with just my income and some income from his business. I doubt his business will match what he was making unless we take on some major business expenses such as advertising. As of now, the advertising has been word-of-mouth and sometimes that can be slow.
I will be brainstorming today to think of things that I can do to try to keep the momentum with the debt reduction going. Expect a post on that soon.

I just finished reading a great book called “Guerilla Marketing for the Home-Based Business.” It had tons of great ideas for getting the word out about a small business. Most of them wouldn’t cost much to implement, and they could be ways of supplementing the word-of-mouth advertising your husband is getting. Hope this helps.

Laurie – thanks for the tip! I will have to look into getting a copy of the book.
