I’m here, doing fine.  Just a bit cranky since eliminating caffeine from my diet.  The headaches aren’t quite so bad now, but I am still very tired.  My body has to become used to a different schedule since I was often staying up late at night fueled by caffeine so I am having a hard time adjusting.

I’ve eliminated caffeine before, and I don’t remember the headaches lasting quite this long.  I am hoping tomorrow to feel back up to speed and feel like writing.  I just haven’t felt up to it because I can’t seem to think straight (sorry if I sound like I am rambling here).

Quitting caffeine has me thinking about the next big quitting thing in my life - cigarettes.  The withdrawal symptoms will be far worse for nicotine than caffeine but the principal is there.  You just have to take it one day at a time and know that tomorrow will be better, right?

As you can see, I’m attempting to get myself ”pumped-up” to quit the smokes.  Quitting the smokes and the caffeine will bring our total monthly savings to over $50.  I wouldn’t dare attempt until the caffeine withdrawals are gone but I need to do some steps now to get myself ready.

Here’s to the headaches going away soon….

OK, I know this flies in the face of what you are attempting to accomplish financially, but one suggestion on helping kick the caffeine is to switch to non-caffeinated soda. For me, I went from Coke to caffeine-free Coke and found it was more the taste of Coke I was more addicted to rather than the caffeine (although caffeine withdrawl does cause those headaches). So, I was still getting the flavor I liked without the caffeine. Not such a double whammy.

In addition, I learned that by going all the way to water, I dropped like 7 pounds in a week. ;)

Perhaps smaller steps will help, but I don’t think there is a caffeine-free Dew - after all, what would be the point? :)

The headaches are tough. I know. But you’ll get through it in just a few days.

Good idea, too, to wait until the current withdrawls stop before you decide to quit smoking (which, by the way, is a wonderful step).

You know we’re here to support you! Good luck, my friend.

    You can do it Tricia!

Lisa - there is actually a caffeine-free Dew, but it tastes a lot different. The caffeine must give it that “taste.” Part of the reason I’m eliminating it altogether is because I really don’t drink enough water. I should be. Plus, my son was drinking too much pop because Mommy and Daddy were drinking it. My husband is not quitting pop, but he is reducing it to one a day.

Molly’s Brother - I’m glad to say that my headache is gone right now and I haven’t had any tylenol in a while. I’m almost there!

    Freedumb - thanks :)

Congratulations on cutting the caffeine out! I have coffee as a true vice in the morning, and don’t know how I’d quit!! And also congrats overall with all your efforts to lower your debt! You can do it and are making awesome progress!!!

If you want to quit smoking, I highly recommend Allen Carr’s Easy Way. You can get the book through Amazon or B&N. I was skeptical, but I am on my 9th day smoke-free and doing fine.
